Scott & Fara Gray serving with FamilyLife

What We Do...

At FamilyLife, God doesn't call the qualified, but He qualifies the called.  When we signed on we had no idea what we would be doing, but we were certain that we would do what He wanted us to do.  Our call to ministry has certainly been confirmed!

In the course of our search for God's will for our lives, the question often crossed our minds, “What does God want us to do?”  We’ve tried our best to follow where He has led us, and we are now serving at FamilyLife Ministries as Missionary Staff.  Even when we joined FamilyLife we weren’t certain what we would be doing, but we were certain that we would do what He wanted us to do.

As we prepared to report to our work assignments at FamilyLife, we imagined ourselves filling roles we thought would fit us perfectly.  However, God’s ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts!  He placed us in completely different jobs than we had previously imagined.  Our initial positions were to help others do ministry!

Scott worked in the Technology Department, where the job description was “partners enabling the mission.”  In today’s world, so much depends on technology.  It affects every aspect of what FamilyLife does, both internally and externally.  So Scott’s job was to help FamilyLife achieve its mission by leveraging our current Technology to it’s greatest potential!

Fara’s job was initially to help develop training for regional staff members and volunteers. Because FamilyLife has shifted their approach from “addition” to “multiplication,” they want to equip as many people as possible for ministry, so that they can in turn equip more people for ministry, and so on.  So she helped to train staff and volunteers.

In July of 2015 God began to call Fara and I to serve in the Live Events area of the ministry. We now work as a team to connect churches and individuals in the South Texas and Southern Louisiana areas to our Weekend to Remember Getaways.

We now oversee 4 events, 2 in Houston, 1 in Austin and 1 in South Padre / Rio Grande Valley.  We continue to see God bring hundreds of couples to the events where they receive biblical instruction in how to succeed in marriage to leave a great Godly Legacy!  (See Our Top Ten Comments from the events)

Our desire is to continue to allow God to use us at FamilyLife in whatever capacity He chooses. We also wish to serve in our local church, and strive to be salt and light wherever we go in our day-to-day activities. We are looking forward to what God has in store for us!
